      ooh, tough question 🙂

I would definitely want to use rechargeable batteries, otherwise it might get expensive. I guess if I made a little robot I would want to use something like a mobile phone or camera battery or even some rechargeable double A batteries. But if it was a big robot, like the ones they used to have on ‘Robot Wars’ then I would probably need something more heavy duty like a car battery. Oooh! maybe I could try and make a solar powered robot….hmmm….

Lithium ion batteries would be ideal, however the charging circuitry would be quite complex. I’d go for Nickle Metal Hydride as a compromise – quite light, good caparity, and readilly available in standard battery sizes (as are the chargers). I would look at a store such as Maplins….

I would probably use the type of battery you have in your laptop, which they also put in electric cars- they can store charge quite well but the robot would probably be kind of heavy with the batteries it would need!
