Indeed, its an interesting job, considerable variation in the work I get to do, and nice people to work with too!

      Hi,
I love my love job. I get to work with so many different people and materials. Everyday brings a new challenge. I also get a nice mix of working in the office, the lab and out in the field. I’m going to Turkey to analyse some materials found on an excavation of a Roman city next month (which I’m really excited about). We’re going to try and see whether we can relate the chemistry of the objects (metal slags, ceramics, glass etc) to the geology of the local area. This will show whether the Roman people in the city made the objects themselves or whether they came from somewhere completely different.

Yes I do 🙂 I like trying new experiments even if they don’t always work!

I’m just in the process of finishing my PhD at the moment, which for me is my job. I do love it, (sometimes more than others), it keeps me interested and I never get bored. The best thing for me is how many doors are open to me. I am very lucky (after working hard in science for a long time) to be in a position where there are loads of new and interesting jobs open to me in the semiconductor industry or in university, so I enjoy my work but also feel secure that I won’t ever need to be without a job.
