thankfully no! loads of the chemicals I use are flammable though so it’s quite likely! Our university has given us all fire extinguisher training though so hopefully I would put it out (or more likely I would panic and run away!)
no, I have burned some samples using high power lasers but thankfully my samples are non-flammable crystals and just turn a dark colour when they are damaged. Because there are so many potentially dangerous things in the lab ( deadly chemicals, high voltages, wide range of temperatures, high power lasers) we have to be really careful and we treat everything as if it is very dangerous even if it is not. There are so many protections in place it would be very hard (I think impossible) for me to set fire to anything in my work.
thankfully not in the lab. As with Charlotte and Rick, we have flammable chemicals in the lab and although lasers and things can be dangerous. I had a lot of safety training before I was allowed to use them. Also, I work a lot with glass which is corrosive when in liquid form and so we have to be extra careful with it.
