Good question! The sun makes your skin darker because your skin contains something called Melanin. This pigment helps to prevent the damage caused by the UV rays from the sun. So when your body detects that it is in strong sunlight, the melanin activates and makes your skin darker. Your hair also contains pigment but much less. The colour in your hair also isn’t used as protection, so in the sunlight the colour gets bleached out and your hair goes lighter.
