• Question: Is our universe shrinking or growing?

      yep like Becki said at the moment it is expanding (or so we think anyway) but who knows if it will stop and what would happen if it did??

      Still growing. You can tell some stars and galaxies are moving away from us via means of their red shift – an equivalent in light of the doppler shift – the way a for example siren on a police car changes pitch as it drives past – higher pitch when approaching, lower when leaving. The optical red shift (lowering of the frequency of light) tells us that many galaxies are moving away from ours.

      Not sure but we keep finding smaller and smaller things, so maybe the reverse is true?
