I think before we can stop a type of cancer from spreading around the body we need to understand how it moves around the body. Why do some cancers only affect certain organs while others cancers will spread all over the place? The cancer research UK website has loads of good info on what cancer is, how it spreads and what scientists are doing to combat the disease.
I think it would be quite difficult to stop cancer spreading because the disease progresses fast, but if we could find a way to block interactions between cancer cells and signalling molecules in your body, or stop the cancer cells dividing it might be possible
If caught early enough it can be treated far more easily, however it may well reach a stage where it can spread to adjoining organs (metastisises) in which case the condition becomes more difficult to treat.
