      That’s an interesting question, I know that it would be bad if it happened. But I had to look up what actually happens to the eye if you get acid in it, and it’s really nasty…

      If you get acid in your eye, it will damage the front of your eye (and will hurt a lot!) and will make the proteins leech out and cause structural damage to the outer parts of your eye (like your cornea). But alkali is actually more dangerous because this can stick to the eye and penetrate into the inner parts and damage things like the lens of your eye. And alkali burns also cause the damaged parts to secrete (ooze out) enzymes which then cause more damage. There is a really high risk that you would lose the sight from the damaged eye.

      If you do get acid in your eye you MUST wash it immediately with water for 20 mins and call for help.
