      hmmm, I don’t know.

      Ladybird is the species name, so it refers to both the males and the females, I’m not sure if there is also separate names for both male and female ladybirds.

      In Norfolk, where I grew up we used to call a ladybird ‘bishy barney bee’

      still a ladybird (if he could hear us he would not be happy) as that is the name of the species
