• Question: What shape is the sky?

      Well, the sky is the atmosphere around the earth, and the earth is a sphere, that means the sky is like a shell around the earth so I guess you would say that the sky is a hollow sphere. Kind of like the skin off an onion or something…

      that depends how far you consider the sky to go, if you mean up to the official ‘space’ boundary I would say it is a sphere (ish) with Earth in the middle like a malteser 🙂 as to what shape space is though I have no idea!

      As Rick and Charlotte say, if you think about the outer limit of the atmosphere around the Earth, then it is spherical. But I guess if you consider sky as the atmosphere and air around us, then it is a really weird shape as air fills all the gaps. The sky is made up of different layers as well, so I guess in that sense you need to be thinking of a hoola-hoop type shape for the different layers, and something weirdly shaped for the air immediately around us…
