Baboons are a type of monkey- monkey refers to about 250 animals (species) that are similar to each other. Baboons are a smaller group consisting of about 5 different animals

Baboons are a type of monkey. But as far as I know they are called ‘old world’ monkeys because they come from Africa/Asia and I think they live on the ground, which might be why they have short tails (not sure). Monkeys in general can be ‘old world’ or ‘new world’ so can come from Africa/Asia or The Americas etc and can live pretty much anywhere, so in trees or on the ground (depends on the type of monkey).

Oh and I’m pretty sure baboons are the ones with the really long snouts (although I might have dreamt that…)

Baboons are a type of monkey, however they live primarily on the ground whilst other monkey species are primarily found in trees. It will however limb trees for food, safety and sometimes to sleep – I guess it doesn’t like heights as much as its relatives!
